| Safari started out as an over exposed self portrait I took. Digitally, I altered the hue and saturation in the self portrait and added all the animals, trees, etc. The image was split in 8 pieces, turned into 8 gel transfers and re-assembled onto each plank of wood. The birch planks were routed out on the backside to create the hanging area and then hand sanded to a smooth finish. Stencils and spray paint were used to give each piece a unique background style. The image wraps around all 4 sides of the wood. A hand brushed clear coat layer was the final addition to the piece. |
